A thought occurred. A car passed by slowly and turned at the corner of the street. The telephone
rang. The wind is shaking the tree outside the bedroom window. It is all the same. Each painting
becomes an event, the way that weather is an event. The painter becomes an absorber and that becomes
the condition of the event that later occurs.
“I should write the way she speaks, leave abysses, construct bridges and not finish them, force the
reader to establish the flow” (Elena Ferrante quote from a Moyra Davey book)

Bonnard wanted to paint the vision that strikes one “when one enters a room all of a sudden” before
proper identifications of objects have been made”.

In the fight for image-making, how is the freedom to strike the canvas, trace a line or snap the
camera shutter won? (…) but by letting ones actions emerge unanticipated. In this way, Bonnard
offers us an anti-determinist, anti-perceptualist conception of an image-making process, led not by
an image held in the mind but out of which the image emerges in unanticipated ways.
